Credentialing Update from ICFI, Oct. 2009

Dear Coach,

I wanted to take a moment to update you on the progress we're making during this open comment period for proposed credentialing enhancements. We've heard from many coaches who have offered useful perspectives and ideas, and engaged many others in information sharing and input.

The open calls hosted by the Board and Credentialing Committee to date have been very well attended and it is our intention to make sure everyone has a chance to be heard, so four additional calls are being scheduled in November. If you haven't participated in a call already, or if you have additional comments to make, please make plans to join one of the following calls:

Tuesday, November 3: 9 a.m. (New York), 3 p.m. (Paris), 10 p.m. (Hong Kong);
Thursday, November 12: 4 p.m. (New York), 10 p.m. (Paris), Friday, November 13: 5 a.m. (Hong Kong);
Monday, November 16: 9 a.m. (New York), 3 p.m. (Paris), 10 p.m. (Hong Kong); and
Monday, November 23: 4 p.m. (New York) , 10 p.m. (Paris), Tuesday, November 24: 5 a.m. (Hong Kong).

If you can't make any of these calls, everyone can still participate in the learning as all of them are being recorded. The links will be posted in the ICF News section on Coachfederation.org as well as on the ICF blog at Coachfederation.org/blog. And, you can send your feedback to isocomments@coachfederation.org and take part in the discussions that are on the ICF blog at Coachfederation.org/blog.

We have started to review and categorize comments received so far and will add the input from the November calls as well. Once all calls are complete, the full report will be posted for all to review the week of November 23. Then, a new e-mail address is to be introduced allowing you to provide additional input after having read the report. At that stage, we would be interested in hearing if, based on the report, there's anything missing, if you feel our summary of what we have heard is correct (or not) and any additional observations and/or suggestions you would like to make.

On the afternoon of Friday, December 4 at the 2009 ICF Annual International Conference in Orlando we will have an open meeting to continue this discussion in person. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend this conference meeting on credentialing, whether they are registered for conference or not. If you do not plan to attend the full conference but would still like to participate at this in-person forum, please confirm your interest in joining us by November 20. Please click here so we can provide lunch and reserve a place for you at the meeting. And of course, all registered conference attendees already have a seat saved for them.

For those unable to join us in Orlando, additional calls will be scheduled through December, and we'll continue to collect your comments.

The input collected from these many calls, e-mails, discussions on the ICF blog and through other channels will be compiled and presented to the global directors in January 2010, where based on your feedback, the Board will deliberate on a path forward.

Thank you to all of the coaches who have already contributed to this rich discussion and we look forward to connecting with others. The Board appreciates your passion and commitment to the ICF Credentialing process and coaching at-large.

Warm Regards,
Karen Tweedie, PCC
2009 ICF President
